Figurative Sculpture & Wearable Art, MONDAYS, Mar. 18 - Apr. 15, 3:30-5:30 p.m., (Grades 5-8)

For session 4, students will design and execute a figurative character from imagination using constructive methods, create a piece of wearable art, and more. We will investigate historical figurative sculpture, folk art, and the Bay Area “funk art” movement. Students will be introduced to contemporary artists working in figurative sculpture while ultimately inventing their own new works of art.

Grades 5-8 will gain experience in creating 2D design drawings, wearable art from fabrics and textiles, model building, 3D constructions from mixed mediums such as wood, paint, glues, metals, and other found objects. All levels and experimentation welcomed and encouraged!
